A decade ago, computers in the classroom was a far away dream. Computer classes were just beginning to be implemented into school curriculum and most assignments were still done by hand. Now, technology in the classroom is very different. Recent studies have shown that nearly every classroom has a computer and in a few years computers will become mandatory for all classrooms.

However, it is not just computers that are in schools, many teachers have access to the internet in their classrooms. it has been shownthat large numbers of schools are placing wireless internet in every classroom. The latest news within technology in the schools is that schools can now purchase a portable classroom. This new portable classroom consists of laptops  that are all networked together which allows students to do work at their desks without wires. Children can also print their homework from their home computer to finish work at home or show parents what they are working on. Homework can also printed and turned in at the school. This new technology will make turning in homework and doing work at home extremely easier. Think of all the excuses for not completing homework that will go out the window.

Other great advancements that come from introducing technologyinto the classroom include a way to search essays done by older children for plagiarism. Essays can be scanned under software to determine that they are authentic. This kind of information ensures that older kids learn how to do research and site correctly to avoid any type of plagiarism.

With all this new technology it is important to remember that with all the focus on new technology, it is still important to remember that the importance of computers in the classroom is still research and education. While there are so many interesting thing and new teaching methods that will come about because of this new technology, the main focus is still education.
